Our Process

Our process is by far the best in the industry. We use top of the line products that have been tested and proven not to fail under some of the worst conditions. The paint and materials we use are sold only to professionals and cannot be purchased in stores with all those other DIY refinishing kits. The products we use are among the best in the industry, but even with good products if any steps in the process are overlooked the end result will be cracking, peeling, and a failed coating. We take pride in each and every job and do very detailed work. Our company strives for customer satisfaction which is why we don't skimp in our process.

Cabinets

The process for a kitchen cabinet refinish will take on average 5 days.

We come out day 1 and remove the doors and drawer fronts to work with off site.
The doors and drawers get cleaned with a degreaser to remove any residue. (We ask everyone to please clean any heavy residue off of your cabinets before we arrive. Excessive amounts of grease may incur an extra charge for cleaning) After cleaning we wipe the doors down with a industrial solvent to help remove any types of wax or contaminates the degreaser may have missed.
Next we sand followed with another solvent wipe.
Doors typically get 2 coats of primer sanding in between coats.
Final step for the doors would be the finish coat. After the finish coat has dried we go through the doors to inspect them for any issues. If any issues are found we sand and recoat.
Cabinet boxes/bases will get cleaned during this time.
Bases will get sanded and masked. Most cabinet bases are veneer not real wood, which doesn't require as much work as the doors.
After everything is masked, covered, and ventilation set up we will spray the cabinet boxes/bases on site. This process with primer and topcoat typically only takes a day. The smell is very minimal and it's safe for you to be home during the application.
The final day, which is usually Friday, we come out and hang all the doors and drawer fronts. We also reinstall any hardware that was removed. If you purchased new hardware we will install the new hardware at no additional charge as long as no new holes need to be drilled. This will be discussed before we start any project.

Bathtubs

Preparation

Proper preparation is key to a long lasting finish. First we come in and remove any old caulking around the tub or fixture.
We will set up a high powered ventilation system to carry fumes to the outside. We also cover up the entire area with drop cloths and proper masking to ensure your home is protected.
If your fixture has been refinished before we will have to strip off the old finish. We will not apply our finish on top of someone else's finish. This is where many of our competitors skimp to quote a lower price but where the quality and longevity of the refinished surface is compromised!

Repairs

If any repairs need to be made such as chips, cracks, holes, or rust we will repair them at this time. If repairs are not required then we will skip down to the next step. (Applying Primer/Bonding Agent)
If repairs are required we will make them and then sand down the repaired area to ensure a smooth finish.
Next we will repeat some of our previous cleaning process on the treated areas.
After everything is cleaned and dry we are ready for the next steps in the process.

Applying primer and glaze

We use an industry leading bonding agent which doesn't require an acid etch solution. This bonding agent is basically like the glue that holds glaze onto the surface.
After applying our bonding agent we will apply our glaze with an HVLP spray gun. We use a durable high solids acrylic urethane which can withstand some of the harshest conditions and still maintain its color for many years to come.
We now use a Low VOC coating which is better for the environment, as well as the consumer. Less odor than traditional coatings and much healthier too.
We use some of the best products in the industry which have been tested and proven not to fail. With our proven products we can ensure our application will last for many years.

Finishing Touches

After the coating has been applied we begin our clean up process, carefully removing all masking paper and drop cloths and cleaning up after ourselves.
Finally we will carefully apply caulking around the fixture if necessary. Please note this is a courtesy and not done in all situations. We will not make a return trip for caulking.
The only thing we leave for you to do is screw the overflow plate back on and take the bag off of any faucets. Anybody can do this and there is no technical knowledge required, just screw in with a screwdriver or even a butter knife. (YOU MUST WAIT 24 HOURS BEFORE USING THE FIXTURE!!)
During the first 24 hours you CAN NOT touch the fixture and it must remain dry. We provide a list of care instructions to ensure your bathtub lasts for many years to come.
You may notice some surface dust after the finish has cured, this is normal and will wear away after several uses.

Counter Tops

Multispec / solid color urethane

As with all coatings, we must ensure the surface is clean and prepped for your coating selection. If applicable, the stove and refrigerator will have to be moved away from the countertop so we can apply the coating to the edges of the counter. The sink is usually left in place and masked around.

Each coating is different, for multispec or solid color urethane applications we will have to make any necessary repairs to the surface to ensure a solid finish. Meaning any chips in the surface, missing laminate, ect. If this is a tile countertop we do not fill the grout lines for the multispec application. If you want smooth and no grout lines then the epoxy countertop is for you.

After repairs are made, we will mask around the counters and place drop cloths down on the floor. The multispec finish is sprayed on, so the masking is a little more in depth compared to the poured epoxy. We spray a primer, and then either a solid color, or if going with multispec, we will spray the multispec finish followed by a protective clear coat. Dry times will vary, but typically this process can be completed in a day.
